Day 5 - My favorite quote

"The spaces between your fingers were created so that another's could fill them in."

- Unknown

I love this quote to death.  Although it was hard to think of a favorite, this is so true!!  My whole life I grew up wanting to be that girl who held hands with her mom, dad, boyfriend, & friends.  No boys ever held my hand in public and that was all I wanted.  In middle school and high school that was like as good as making out in public, the hand hold!  It told everyone you were SERIOUS!  Well as much as it sucked then I have the best finger fillers I could ever have now!!  My sexy, sweet husband who holds my hand in public because he wants people to know I am his.  My sweet little baby who although she doesn't know she is doing it, fills my finger spaces oh so beautifully.

( chillin in the Big Green Egg!)

Day 4 - My Favorite Book

Yeah that's right.  The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis would have to be my favorite book(s).  Now I didn't read these as a child like most people.  I always heard about them but I was more interested in Babysitter's Club Little Sister or Sweet Valley High.  (Yes I have always loved trash reading.)  When I was in college a friend and I came across a partially burned down house in the country.  We went in and I found a half burnt box of these books, I took them.  I thought they would look cool on my book shelf.  When I finally got around to reading them I could NOT put them down!  I like all 7 of them equally as much but "The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe" will always be best!  That is the only one of the movies I saw and it was everything I imagined it could be.  That is one movie made from a book that was actually great!  I still have the books from the burnt down house on my book shelf and yes, they do still look cool!

Day 3 - My favorite television show

OK now this is a tough one!

 I love Scrubs,
 I love A Baby Story,
but I think my favorite T.V. show would have to be...Gossip Girl.

I know, how lame could I get.  I can't help it.  It all started long ago when I began reading Cecily von Ziegesar's Gossip Girl Series.  Yes they are teen novels and yes, I have read every one.  I was not even aware that there was such a show until my friend Monica clued me in.  She let me borrow Season 1 and I haven't turned back since!  I love Blair, she is evil.  I try to love Serena but every time I do she sleeps with someones boyfriend.  I tried to hate Chuck for 2 seasons but he seems to have turned around, or not.  Jenny Humprey is a whore and Dan is a dork but cute!  Bottom line, this show is my soap opera.  I love it, I re-watch the first 3 seasons all of the time and they never get old.  Do any of you guys enjoy this show or one just as dumb?!!

Day 2 - My favorite Movie

My favorite movie of all time would have to be The Sound of Music.

Don't judge me!!  It is wonderful.  When I was little my mom watched this with my sister and I.  We quickly became obsessed and watched it all of the time.  We would sing every word, we would fight over who had to be Rolph and who got to be Liesel.  We always fast forwarded through the nazi chasing part and re-watched the good night song over and over.  I wanted to be Greta because I thought she was the cutest.  I could go on and on about every character in this movie but that isn't the point is it?  I will tell you this, every single time it shows its beautiful title on my T.V. guide, I watch it.  John cringes as I belt out EVERY word of EVERY song and dance around the living room.  He must love me!  Now if you will excuse me...Doe, a deer, a female deer...

Day 1 - My favorite song
My favorite song is Scarlet Begonia's by The Grateful Dead.  This song has made me smile for so many years and so many different reasons.  It was the song my husband and I joined our reception to as well as the song our beautiful little girl is named after.  The lyrics touch my soul every time I hear it.  It makes me smile and laugh.  It is such a beautiful song.  When I hear this song now that Miss Scarlet is here, I think of her growing up, being beautiful, and loving her life no matter what it entails.  Here are the lyrics :

As I was walking round Grosvenor Square
Not a chill to the winter but a nip to the air
From the other direction she was calling my eye
It could be an illusion, but I might as well try
Might as well try
She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes
And I knew without asking she was into the blues
She wore scarlet begonias, tucked into her curls
I knew right away she was not like other girls
Other girls
In the thick of the evening when the dealing got rough
She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff
As I picked up my matches and was closing the door
I had one of those flashes I had been there before
Been there before
Well I ain't often right but I've never been wrong
It seldom turns out the way it does in the song
Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right
Well there ain't nothing wrong with the way she moves
Scarlet begonias or a touch of the blues
And there's nothing wrong with the look that's in her eyes
I had to learn the hard way to let her pass by
Let her pass by
The wind in the willows playing Tea for Two
The sky was yellow and the sun was blue
Strangers stopping strangers just to shake their hand
Everybody is playing in the heart of gold band
Heart of gold band
She is my Heart of Gold

The Awards

The awards just came out, I got bad blogger.  I have no excuse other than we have literally been on the road for 3 weeks.  Since we returned from Nashville my mom and I went to the beach for a few days then my Grandpa passed away so we were at moms for 2 more days.  We finally are settled back in and trying to get the baby bird settled as well.  I think all of this mess has messed her up!  Keep my friend Laura in your prayers she is due to be induced next week and is having a quite HUGE baby boy!!  Yay Laura we can't wait to see him! Here are some pics to make my bad blogger award go away!!

Tomato Magic

Okay ya'll I had to post this cause I made it for dinner tonight and it was AWESOME!  Try it and let me know what ya think!  Hop on over to Erin's blog and let her know too!  And how convenient that I made this last night and then read about this pie contest over at Shabby Apple.  I hope they enjoy it as much as we did!! And Erin, if I win I will share the prize!!

WARNING!!!
This is not a recipe that can be modified into a low-calorie version.
It just wouldn't be any good.

The ingredients are very simple.
1.    1 deep dish pre-baked pie crust (I find mine in the freezer section of the grocery store)
2.    Tomatoes, I used 4 small tomatoes and a handful of grape tomatoes from my garden, use your best
       judgement and wing it;)
3.    A handful of basil, about 15-20 leaves, stems removed
4.    3/4 cup REAL mayonaise, you all know I love Dukes;)
5.    3/4 cup shredded parmesan
6.    3/4 cup shredded provolone (I know that provolone comes sliced, but you can easily roll up about  4 slices and shred it up!)
7.    3 slices of provolone (for the bottom of your crust)

First things first!
Get a couple layers of paper towels down.
Slice your tomatoes...I don't know exactly how thick, but probably around 1/4 inch.
Place your slices on the paper towels.
Sprinkle with pepper and a tiny bit of salt.
You want your tomatoes to release some of their water so your pie doesn't become watery.
After about 10 minutes, flip your maters'!
Sprinkle with pepper only.
Leave for at least another 10 minutes.  While the maters' are workin'...
Mix up your mayonnaise and shredded cheeses.
Take your basil and tuck all of the leaves into each other...
Then take your scissors and snip, snip, snip!
Right on top of the mayonnaise and cheese mixture, then mix it up!
You want to take your 3 slices of Provolone and put them in the bottom of your pre-baked deep dish pie crust.  Now, you can start layering!  Start with your maters'!  Then, "ice" that layer with half of the mayo/cheese/basil mix
Repeat.
Your final layer will be the mayo/cheese/basil mix.
Bake at 375 for about 30-40 minutes
or
until it looks like heaven

Now, this is important!
Let it rest!!!

I would say, about 20-30 minutes.
Then, slice it up!

Now, this is a very rich dish.
So, watch it;)

Okay I took this directly from her blog, word for word, and the picture so I gotta give some credit!  This is a GREAT meal and I can't wait to add some thin sliced onions to it next time!!  And for the record, we ate over half of this, you do not need a side dish at all!  I did some marinated white beans but they quickly got pushed aside for more pie.
