Thanks

Dude, I am SOOOOOO excited for Thanksgiving I can't stand it.  I can't wait to see my family, I seriously wish I was ballsy enough to make a video about how pumped I am to see my fam and show off the babes but I'm not.  So we are off to the greatest place in all of the land, AKA Brentwood, Tennessee.  We will see my Grannie who lives there, we will stay at the Hilton Overlook cause we have for the past 10 years and they love us.  We will leave our baby in the room to sleep while we are down at the hotel bar, cause we do that, we will eat, drink, and FOR SURE be merry.  I am so damn pumped.  Sorry to go on but this is the one time a year we see everyone, from Cincinnati to Alabama, from Tybee Island to Greenville, ALL of em' will be there.
OK I'm done with that.  A lot of changes have happened around here.  Scarlet now has her milk from a sippy cup except for bedtime, cause thats special daddy baby time that we don't wanna give up yet.  She is also attempting to crawl...yikes-a-thon.  My house is a crawlers nightmare.  I have slowly been trying to eliminate hazardous things but that would mean I eliminated the whole house, so there is that.  I hope you all have a safe & happy holiday!  Get to those Christmas decorations and show me some pics!  I need ideas cause I want to go ALL out this year.  I already started ;)  Hope everyone eats as good as I will be this week.  What are you excited about?  And thankful for?  My answer is this little bit of Heaven.

If you...

follow me on twitter, you may have seen I posted this.  If not you should follow me to get goodies like this more often! :)  I found a way to crack my baby up, like belly laughs.  Like enough to make her fall over which she hasn't done in 2 days, like melt my heart kind of laughs...

Anyway, whats been going on with you guys?  As much as J and I always made fun of the "Christmas Card" sending people we know & said we would NEVER be the people that send em', we are.  I mean HELLO!!! We had a kid, and she is really cute, and I can get 50 free cards from shutterfly, (so can you bloggers) so we are.  Yup I caved, John, not so much.  Oh well, I make the decisions.  So I have used shutterfly before.  I made 2 photo books for our baby girl and although I misspelled the work "understand" in one of them, they turned out great.  Wanna know how I spelled understand? "My bunny, we love you so much.  You will never uncerstand until you have your own."  Yeah thats right, it says uncerstand.  Anyhow.  These are the ones I like and the one I am getting is amongst these.  Can you tell which one it is?
SO what do ya think?  Are you gonna sign up cause ya should, and which one am I choosing??? DO guess!  Gotta get back to Gossip Girl!! Have a great night ya UNCERSTAND???

Epic Fail

So kinda a lot going on.  This is more of a post of pics and a little bit of random-ness.  I gave homemade babe food a go... hence the title Epic Fail.  She hated it.  I steamed carrots for like 20 years, mashed em with a potato masher.  She laughed and gagged through all 3 bites.  In turn, she did eat an entire jar of Organic pears, 15 cheese shreds (with a disgusted face) and about 10 puffs.  I ended up blending the carrot mash with prune juice and making a slightly better puree that she could swallow.  (She really likes prunes.)  It is not that my child dislikes food, she wants all solids, but what I make for baby is so not good compared to what she sneaks off my plate.  I know what you're thinking, she is 6 months old.  She doesn't steal food but alas, we have a large ferret on our hands.  She steals ANYTHING.  Anyway we make some oven roasted potatos all the time and last week we made em' chip style with burgers and they were bangin.  Email me if you want the recipe.  Here is the evidence.
This is carrots before juice, and bad food face
Carrots after juice and happy food face
 Cute baby and good taters!!!
Punkin's empty jar of peaches & her cute self.

Stats

We had a 6 month "well" baby visit today.  If well means green snot and a cough that sounds like croup.  Well good news all around!  No croup, no ear infections...pretty much a cold, she will live.  Our big girl is 17 pounds 9 oz.  She's got nothin' on her 4 month old boyfriend PB!!  She is 27 inches long and healthy as a horse!  She is in 75th for weight, which means she slowed down on the gaining b/c last visit she was off the charts. As in 99th.  She is 95th for height which I am so thankful for!  Hopefully she will end up tall and sexy, like her daddy!!  She had some MAJOR shots, screamed for a sec then immediately passed out for an hour.  I tried my hand at homemade baby food tonight.  I will post it tomorrow hopefully :)

Fun fest

We have had a fun-filled weekend here at the Macon house!  Friday night we had cousin Wiss and Meagan over for dinner.

We made Sante Fe soup that was sooooo good.  This is the recipe I used.  The only thing I did different was I used an extra can of black beans and no kidney beans.  It was MONEY and we have enough leftovers for 3 families the size of MckMama's.  Anyway, we stayed up late and played games and for the record 2 big bottles of wine does result in a pounding, life or death wine headache the next day.  Lucky for me the babe slept til 8 and John was off.  So Saturday we had to take a cater for work in the morning and then we had plans to go to The Moss Rock Festival.  The cater was at Pilgrim UCC.  This church was AMAZING!  Like I haven't gone to church in 15 years because I never liked the extremes I found in most denominations but this place was awesome.  They are VERY open to whoever you are, be it gay, poor, rich, black, white, anyone looking for religion that is a little different.  Or maybe not so much different but "feels" different & uncomfortable in other places.  Much like me!  So I am really excited to try this church out because like John & I were raised, we would like to bring baby up in the church.  I was going to go today at 11 (another bonus, it's not til 11!) but no one could go with me :( and I cannot go alone the first time.  I'm just not that brave.  After the cater we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to catch a bit of the Auburn game (WEAGLE) and grab a bite to eat.  We then headed over to Regions Park to take the shuttle to The preserve where the Festival was being held.  It was totally fun!  A few friends went with us and we wandered around with 16oz beers for the majority of the day.  Oh did I forget to mention that Johns sweet mama came up to sit the babe so we could have a day.  A just us day :) The festival was full of Eco-artists using nature or recyled items to make the art.  It was beautiful.  They had these little houses built that the kids where "building" using yarn, cans, and basically trash but they actually looked like real tiny playhouses.  There was music and tons of little hippie kids running around.  It was a ton of fun but freezing.  After we left there and went by a friends house to have a drink and watch the rest of the Alabama game (wahwahwah)   Came home and relieved "Hunny" the babysitter and went to bed!  At 8:30...It's a good thing too because apparently no one tells babies about the time change...our lovely one got up at 5:30am.  GROSS.  Anyway that was our weekend and it was fun!  Hope ya'll have a great week.

Back to work, MDO, and growth spurt

Man we have been busy!  Scarlet started Mothers Day Out a few weeks ago, 3 days a week from 9:30-1:30.  Don't be jealous, I don't get to lay around, bathe, grocery shop, or anything relaxing like that.  I go to work at the restaurant and work!  It is fun though, J & I have a great time working together.  On the MDO note, so I have been such a schedule nazi for the past 6 months because it keeps me sane, it makes me feel like I have control over baby needs and things when in reality...you NEVER do!  It is an ever changing process and I think I am finally figuring that out.  I got so mad yesterday when I went to pick up babes and they had her swaddled (we quit that a week ago) and had fed her an hour earlier than I told them to, and had put her down for a nap right after eating.  Which I never do unless it is bedtime.  So today I had a nice talk with the teacher and told her how I would like things done but I have come to realize that she will want to eat when she is hungry, be it 3-4 hours, she will nap when she is tired.  I am so gung ho on having this perfect day schedule and I just can't have it!  I can't guarantee that she will nap from 9-11 EVERYDAY, or 3-5 EVERYDAY so I am trying to get over it.  Thanks for listening!  On the swaddle note, I was so scared ya'll!  My friend Meredith talked me up and we just quit, cold turkey.  She woke up a few times for the first 4 nights but just fussed herself back to sleep.  Now that we tackled that she hit 6 months and is having a big girl growth spurt.  Waking up at 5 am for the past 2 days.  I didn't think anything of it because she normally wakes at 6:45-7:30 and I let her play in her crib until 7 or 8.  Well now she is waking up SCREAMING so today I thought I would see if she was hungry...was she ever!  She ate 7oz in about 2 minutes.  I felt so bad.
Anyway enough about me, what are all of you up to?  I feel like all I do is read, read, read blogs and don't comment.  Being a mama makes these few minutes I get to read very precious.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!  We are thinking about going to Moss Rock Festival this weekend!! All natural, green, eco-art/ live music function!! Free to get in and a great afternoon event!  Let ya know how it goes!

I also NEED your oven fried chicken recipe like now :)  Hope you all had a SWEET Halloween.  We will try to catch up this week by actually sleeping, not eating 20 lbs of candy, and not spending an unnecessary amount of money at the grocery on a "beer" run!  Night peeps.
